When Vern Milton came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Huntersville fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vern Milton couldn't finish the play. Huntersville's Rosario Harman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Huntersville from getting a goal against them. In the 27th minute Vern Milton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dallas Grove saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rodolfo Fuller was the one to do the kick off. Dallas Grove was a little too slow when Carlos Masters got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 66th minute. The score was now 1-2. Randall Paulson did an outstanding performance 72 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 1-3 to the right of an irritated Dallas Grove in the goal. Dallas Grove was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Carlos Masters showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 76 minute of play. If Altan Ağca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mitch Akers took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rosario Harman. Huntersville's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Huntersville's Carlos Masters got a free kick in the 96th minute. When Mitch Akers fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Thousand Oaks's protests and gave Mitch Akers a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Huntersville booed when Thousand Oaks was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mitch Akers didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Huntersville could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Thousand Oaks throughout the match.
