Spectators: 7709 (Terracing: 5783, Seating: 1773, VIP seats: 153) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rocco Atkinson started the match with the kick off. Rocco Atkinson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Denny Salas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rocco Atkinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brett Serrano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Solomon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Hawaii Suns getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Don Yates hit a great ball. In the 17th minute, Solomon Ott hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Kevin Larsen fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored North Amherst's protests and gave Kevin Larsen a yellow card for diving instead. After 19 played minutes North Amherst got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Larsen. Gerardo Solomon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Brett Serrano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Don Yates hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Rob Pelletier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Denny Salas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rocco Atkinson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Denny Salas having to make a save. After a rather tough play, North Amherst's Lionel Roy got a free kick in the 30th minute. Gerardo Solomon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Dustin McIntyre came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Hawaii Suns fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dustin McIntyre couldn't finish the play. Brett Serrano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dustin McIntyre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brett Serrano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gerardo Solomon went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 46 minutes into the match, North Amherst's goal looked a bit too open when Gerardo Solomon came free, but Brett Serrano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Hawaii Suns were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dustin McIntyre stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Johnathon Boyle put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Denny Salas. The audience was convinced that Johnathon Boyle's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Denny Salas was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Gerardo Solomon might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brett Serrano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerardo Solomon ran back to his position shaking his head. After 81 minutes, Don Yates mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hawaii Suns and the North Amherst players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of North Amherst booed when Hawaii Suns was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Don Yates didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lionel Roy took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 82nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Denny Salas. Hawaii Suns's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Rob Pelletier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brett Serrano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dustin McIntyre in the 93rd minute of play. Rocco Atkinson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denny Salas having to interfere.
