In the 29th minute of the match Nathanial Harris shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jesse Tomlinson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kasey Rocha hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Dante Link fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jesse Tomlinson having to interfere. In the 43rdth minute of the game Mark Willoughby who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rayados's Jesse Tomlinson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Mark Willoughby came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Athetic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mark Willoughby couldn't finish the play. Jesse Tomlinson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kasey Rocha in the 46th minute of play. Allen Raines made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Rosario Bristol sent off a good shot on target. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Mark Willoughby made the kick off in the second half. The referee showed Rhett Hodge the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. With his leg Jesse Tomlinson managed to avoid a goal in the 64thth minute, when Athetic's Mark Willoughby fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Rosario Bristol received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Allen Raines tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
