Spectators: 7762 (Terracing: 5823, Seating: 1785, VIP seats: 154) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Walton Roberts got the match started through his kick off. David Marshall showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rusty Pagan, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. A collision led to Huron FC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Jarod Tabor hit a great ball. Kirk Godfrey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Marshall having to interfere. Huron FC's David Marshall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rusty Pagan in the 15th minute of play. In the 15th match minute, Huron FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jarod Tabor to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Huron FC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Benedict Belanger hit a great ball. In the 18thth minute of the game Rusty Pagan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Huron FC's David Marshall was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Kirk Godfrey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 22 played minutes St. Matthews got a freekick which was hit by Terry Barnes. St. Matthews's Kirk Godfrey got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. David Marshall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rusty Pagan in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 37 minutes, Rusty Pagan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. St. Matthews's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rusty Pagan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Kirk Godfrey came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the St. Matthews fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kirk Godfrey couldn't finish the play. The wind increased when Kirk Godfrey made the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Huron FC got a freekick which was hit by Jerry Archer. A hard shot by Mel Rosario from long distance, 52 minutes into the match, got David Marshall's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. If Rusty Pagan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Huron FC booed when St. Matthews was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kirk Godfrey didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Walton Roberts managed to get in a good position for a shot. Huron FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Walton Roberts was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Preston Banning breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 64 minutes, Adolfo Knowles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the St. Matthews and the Huron FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 64th minute, Adolfo Knowles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 66 minutes into the game, Weston Farrar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. St. Matthews's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Huron FC the free kick. David Marshall made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Rusty Pagan sent off a good shot on target. In the 70th match minute, Huron FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Terry Ragsdale to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute Kirk Godfrey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Marshall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rusty Pagan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kirk Godfrey in the 82nd minute of play forced Huron FC's goalkeeper David Marshall to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 86 in the game by Rusty Pagan from a close distance when the talented David Marshall managed to make a qualified save. Huron FC's players were relieved. In the 89th minute of the match St. Matthews got a corner. Huron FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mel Rosario ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 91st minute, Raul Russell made a precise shot to the right of Preston Banning. St. Matthews's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 94th match minute, St. Matthews was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rusty Pagan to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Huron FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while St. Matthews had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
