Brett Serrano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kirk Godfrey in the 11th minute of the match. Mel Rosario made a great header on St. Matthews's corner, it was just that North Amherst's Brett Serrano managed to reach the ball for a save. 30 minutes into the match, Kirk Godfrey dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Brett Serrano, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rocco Atkinson in the 34th minute of play forced St. Matthews's goalkeeper Preston Banning to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. St. Matthews's Preston Banning proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save St. Matthews from getting a goal against them. After 59 minutes, Adolfo Knowles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the St. Matthews and the North Amherst players grew even worse after the yellow card. St. Matthews's supporters rose to their feet, but Rusty Pagan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brett Serrano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There was no doubt that St. Matthews were the better team. St. Matthews's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
