Westbrook FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lancaster FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Westbrook FC's Garry Bellamy got a free kick in the 7th minute. When Hal Sizemore fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lancaster FC's protests and gave Hal Sizemore a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Lancaster FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Hal Sizemore hit a great ball. Westbrook FC's Garry Bellamy quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Isidro Sexton, made in the 15th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Westbrook FC's Jeffrey Goldberg slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Wilton Vilter. That made the score 1-0 after 16 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in Lancaster FC's zone, Jeffrey Goldberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilton Vilter came out of the goal and Jeffrey Goldberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilton Vilter made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeffrey Goldberg in the 23rd minute. In the 26th minute Jeffrey Goldberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilton Vilter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeffrey Goldberg who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Wilton Vilter when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 34 minutes into the match, Lawrence Fitzpatrick had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of David Barnes. Westbrook FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lawrence Fitzpatrick was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Lawrence Fitzpatrick blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without David Barnes having to make a save. In the 39th minute Lawrence Fitzpatrick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Barnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexis Costa during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Westbrook FC booed when Lancaster FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexis Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Lancaster FC's Lawrence Fitzpatrick sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that David Barnes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Lawrence Fitzpatrick fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lancaster FC's protests and gave Lawrence Fitzpatrick a yellow card for diving instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jeffrey Goldberg made a kick off. Lawrence Fitzpatrick kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. After 69 minutes, Jeff Sylvester mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Westbrook FC and the Lancaster FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 69th match minute, Westbrook FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeff Sylvester to maneuver through the defense. After 75 played minutes Lancaster FC got a freekick which was hit by Adalberto Rector. If Jeffrey Goldberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lancaster FC's Alexis Costa got his second yellow card of the match in the 78th minute. The referee ordered Alexis Costa off the ground. A collision led to Lancaster FC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Alexis Costa hit a great ball. A sloppy throw-in by Isidro Sexton in the 83rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Westbrook FC's Garry Bellamy. If Lawrence Fitzpatrick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rene Bowles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Barnes having to interfere. Westbrook FC's David Barnes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Westbrook FC from getting a goal against them. Adalberto Rector recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 94 minutes into the match, Westbrook FC's goal looked a bit too open when Isidro Sexton came free, but David Barnes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
