In the 30th minute, Tad Hunt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kickin Balls's Otto Cornelius got his second yellow card of the match in the 31st minute. The referee ordered Otto Cornelius off the ground. Isidro Connor hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. After 37 minutes, Conrad Nugent mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kickin Balls and the Wellston AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 36th minute, one of Kickin Balls:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Kickin Balls. Kickin Balls's Jose Holland got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jose Holland was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Ross Randolph hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. German Suarez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tad Hunt in the 60th minute of play. Alexander Lyons might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over German Suarez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alexander Lyons ran back to his position shaking his head. Trent Herman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesar Key in the 68th minute of play. Kickin Balls's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wellston AFC the free kick.
