The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Troy McHugh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. After 17 played minutes Bay Minette got a freekick which was hit by Gerardo Begay. Kasey Velasco was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 18th match minute, Bay Minette was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rolland Dawson to maneuver through the defense. If Troy McHugh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Darryl Messer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Begay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Bay Minette's Zachery Burke fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gerardo Begay during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Bay Minette getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Gerardo Begay hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Bay Minette's zone, Freddie Spangler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angelo Easley came out of the goal and Freddie Spangler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Freddie Spangler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dale Courtney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darryl Messer having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Keokuk's goal looked a bit too open when Zachery Burke came free, but Darryl Messer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Willard Landrum charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Willard Landrum the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dale Courtney to strike the kick off in the second half. Angelo Easley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Troy McHugh, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. 61 minutes in the game, Dale Courtney fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Darryl Messer having to interfere. Dale Courtney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darryl Messer having to interfere. The supporters of Bay Minette booed when Keokuk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmed Hickman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Angelo Easley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Troy McHugh in the 73rd minute of the match. Darryl Messer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zachery Burke went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zachery Burke got free with Darryl Messer in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zachery Burke succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 87th playminute. If Troy McHugh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Freddie Spangler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 95 minutes into the match, Keokuk's goalkeeper Darryl Messer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zachery Burke. Jeremy Allison charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremy Allison the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The Bay Minette supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Bay Minette would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
