With a little luck, Asheville FC's Francesco Blum got control of the ball when Rodrick Frederick tried to sneak it across the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Francesco Blum made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Palmer Wheeler in the 51st minute of play. Bryon Hunter's late challenge caught a Downingtown's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bryon Hunter helped the player get up and apologised. Bryon Hunter hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Daren Avila recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Robby Cummings made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Tomas Rich sent off a good shot on target. Rodrick Frederick struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Francesco Blum didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Downingtown. In the 74thth minute of the game Palmer Wheeler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Asheville FC's Francesco Blum was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Asheville FC's Francesco Blum played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrick Frederick in the 76th minute of play. If Rodrick Frederick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
