Dane Varner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jose Galvan in the 3rd minute of the match. When the match clock showed 4 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Jose Galvan sped through Lake Mohawk's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dane Varner. 10 minutes into the match, Jose Galvan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dane Varner, 2-0. In the 14th minute Jose Galvan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dane Varner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jarvis Duke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Hokie Nation booed when Lake Mohawk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Barton didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 23 minutes, Jose Galvan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hokie Nation's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jose Galvan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jarvis Duke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dane Varner having to interfere. Jose Galvan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dane Varner came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Hokie Nation's Jarvis Duke. But to his dismay, Jarvis Duke quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. In the 43rd minute, Hank Hager made a precise shot to the right of Blaine Rafferty. Hokie Nation's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sydney Maxwell to strike the kick off in the second half. Jose Galvan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dane Varner having to interfere. Hokie Nation's Jarvis Duke got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hank Hager sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute Jose Galvan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dane Varner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jarvis Duke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jose Galvan in the 72nd minute of play forced Lake Mohawk's goalkeeper Dane Varner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jose Galvan in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dane Varner prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sydney Maxwell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sydney Maxwell in the 83rd minute of play forced Hokie Nation's goalkeeper Blaine Rafferty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Blaine Rafferty didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 88th minute, which inside left pole to 3-2. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Hokie Nation had won after a very even match.
