To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cody Owens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bronson Underwood in the 8th minute of play. FC Chicago's Carlo Ray got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Ezra Cates fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galliano's protests and gave Ezra Cates a yellow card for diving instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cruz Olsen during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cruz Olsen kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After 17 played minutes, FC Chicago's Darell Haskins shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cody Owens came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Chicago reached it. Cody Owens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bronson Underwood in the 18th minute of the match. Carlo Ray fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cody Owens having to interfere. Wes Hoskins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 1-0 became the score in the 36th minute when Bronson Underwood elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Carlo Ray made a precise shot to the right of Cody Owens. Galliano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 45th minute, Carlo Ray got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Darell Rankin was the one to do the kick off. Dalton Massey made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Darell Rankin sent off a good shot on target. After 56 minutes FC Chicago's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dallas Knapp who took care of the corner kick. Galliano's Dallas Knapp was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dalton Massey in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 58th minute Bronson Underwood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cody Owens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dalton Massey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darell Rankin in the 59th minute of the match. Grady Larkin hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. 85 minutes into the match, FC Chicago's goal looked a bit too open when Darell Rankin came free, but Dalton Massey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cody Owens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlo Ray in the 86th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Bronson Underwood managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Chicago's supporters rose to their feet, but Bronson Underwood was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cody Owens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
