If Daryl Mott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 9th minute Daryl Mott shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garth Yeager saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 11 minutes Almafuerte's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sal Snow who took care of the corner kick. Daryl Mott sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daryl Mott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garth Yeager having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Von Dozier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gate City FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Von Dozier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Garth Yeager breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 22 minutes, Daryl Mott managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gate City FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daryl Mott was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Almafuerte's Garth Yeager played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daryl Mott in the 28th minute of play. Ron Langley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nolan Odell in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Almafuerte's Russell Lawler dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Von Dozier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garth Yeager having to interfere. In the 40th match minute, Almafuerte was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Russell Lawler to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Von Dozier was the one to do the kick off. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Nolan Odell sped through Gate City FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ron Langley. When Almafuerte's J.P. DeJesus in 61 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Ron Langley guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After a rather tough play, Gate City FC's Sal Snow got a free kick in the 67th minute. Nolan Odell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ron Langley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from J.P. DeJesus in the 71st minute of the match. J.P. DeJesus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Daryl Mott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Garth Yeager didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 78th minute, which inside left pole to 2-1. Sung Uhl's late challenge caught a Almafuerte's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sung Uhl helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Gate City FC's Sung Uhl got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Almafuerte's Garth Yeager proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Almafuerte from getting a goal against them. 95 minutes into the match, Nolan Odell had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ron Langley. Gate City FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nolan Odell was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Almafuerte were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gate City FC for a fine match.
