In the 4th minute, Reuben Rasmussen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lenny Burnham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Jamel Dupre made a huge save. After having played for 13 minutes, Curt Dorsey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pelicans SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Curt Dorsey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Curt Dwyer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pelicans SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Curt Dwyer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Monty Flores breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 15 minutes into the match, East Moline's goal looked a bit too open when Curt Dwyer came free, but Monty Flores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Pelicans SC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Curt Dorsey hit a great ball. After 22 minutes, Curt Dwyer made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. East Moline's Monty Flores tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. East Moline's Monty Flores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Curt Dorsey in the 26th minute of play. If Curt Dwyer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Pelicans SC fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when Pelicans SC's Curt Dorsey looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Monty Flores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Curt Dwyer in the 35th minute of the match. Curt Dwyer blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Monty Flores having to make a save. Curt Dwyer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Monty Flores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rd minute Curt Dwyer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Monty Flores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in East Moline's zone, Curt Dorsey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Monty Flores came out of the goal and Curt Dorsey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 50th minute, Curt Dwyer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pelicans SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Curt Dorsey made the kick off in the second half. Curt Dwyer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Monty Flores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65thth minute of the game Curt Dorsey who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but East Moline's Monty Flores was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 70 minutes into the game, Devin Conley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pelicans SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave East Moline the free kick. Devin Conley kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Curt Dwyer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Monty Flores having to interfere. Jamel Dupre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenny Burnham in the 81st minute of play. Monty Flores stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Curt Dorsey's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Curt Dorsey kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Monty Flores. That made the score 0-4 in the 85 minute of play. Monty Flores made an important save on a dangerous shot by Curt Dwyer in the 91st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Pelicans SC's Curt Dorsey slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Monty Flores. That made the score 0-5 after 92 minutes of play. After having played for 96 minutes, Curt Dorsey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pelicans SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Curt Dorsey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pelicans SC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
