The supporters of East Haven booed when Aransas Pass was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andy Coulter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hal Myrick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sal Barbour in the 4th minute of the match. Archie Hoff might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romeo Stroh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Archie Hoff ran back to his position shaking his head. East Haven's Romeo Stroh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Markus Roe in the 17th minute of play. Jonah Workman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Hal Myrick made a huge save. Sal Barbour's late challenge caught a Aransas Pass's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sal Barbour helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd minute, Sal Barbour hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Markus Roe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 26 minutes, Markus Roe mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Aransas Pass and the East Haven players grew even worse after the yellow card. Archie Hoff recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Romeo Stroh didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Markus Roe went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Jonah Workman came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the East Haven fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonah Workman couldn't finish the play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Markus Roe was the one to do the kick off. Romeo Stroh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Markus Roe in the 52nd minute of play. Jonah Workman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Hal Myrick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sal Barbour fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hal Myrick having to interfere. Markus Roe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Romeo Stroh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Archie Hoff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 85 minutes, Jonah Workman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. East Haven's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonah Workman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hal Myrick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sal Barbour in the 89th minute of play. Andy Coulter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeo Stroh having to interfere. Jonah Workman might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hal Myrick. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jonah Workman ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Aransas Pass eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
