Starkville's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bexley the free kick. Shaun Nance kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Starkville's zone, Ervin Beckman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Titus Peoples came out of the goal and Ervin Beckman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Titus Peoples took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ervin Beckman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Corey Uster hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Oren Seymour had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bexley's Eliseo Marcus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Dotson in the 39th minute of play. If William Dotson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mitchell Rutledge might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eliseo Marcus. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mitchell Rutledge ran back to his position shaking his head. When Ervin Beckman came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Bexley fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ervin Beckman couldn't finish the play.

Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Bexley's goal looked a bit too open when William Dotson came free, but Eliseo Marcus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseo Marcus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from William Dotson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oren Seymour could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Titus Peoples made a huge save.
