Spectators: 7711 (Terracing: 5785, Seating: 1773, VIP seats: 153) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Kerry Lynch kicked off to start the match. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Calvin Shook took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Hector Holt to make any attempt to save it. If Winston Tompkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Calvin Shook came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Cross City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Calvin Shook couldn't finish the play. Winston Tompkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hector Holt having to interfere. If Calvin Shook had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 21 minutes into the game, Virginia Gardens AFC's Kerry Lynch nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lenny MacDowell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Cross City's Rodrigo Porter shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 25th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Hector Holt but with some difficulty. Erik Pratt kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Lenny MacDowell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cole Grace's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Winston Tompkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 38 minutes, Val Dobson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cross City and the Virginia Gardens AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cross City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 37th minute. Penalty! Virginia Gardens AFC's Cole Grace got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Cross City's Neil Weiss got a free kick in the 43rd minute. After the first half Virginia Gardens AFC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Calvin Shook to strike the kick off in the second half. Kerry Lynch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenny MacDowell having to interfere. Winston Tompkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Virginia Gardens AFC booed when Cross City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Winston Tompkins didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 61 minutes, Cole Grace managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Virginia Gardens AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cole Grace was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kerry Lynch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Lenny MacDowell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 64 played minutes Cross City got a freekick which was hit by Bryon Escobar. When Kerry Lynch came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Virginia Gardens AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kerry Lynch couldn't finish the play. 67 minutes into the game, Kerry Lynch recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lenny MacDowell. Kerry Lynch showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Kerry Lynch did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-4 to the left of a surprised Lenny MacDowell 72 minutes into the match. Hector Holt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Calvin Shook in the 76th minute of play. Calvin Shook fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hector Holt having to interfere. After 81 played minutes, Cross City's Walker Garcia shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hector Holt came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cross City reached it. Kerry Lynch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lenny MacDowell made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Cole Grace sent off a good shot on target. 88 minutes into the match, Cross City's Winston Tompkins sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hector Holt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cole Grace received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Lenny MacDowell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Virginia Gardens AFC booed when Cross City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tracey Kitchen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cole Grace sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Virginia Gardens AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
