Nathanial Shipp started the match with the kick off. After 4 played minutes INTER MIAMI CF got a freekick which was hit by Scott McMullen. Erik Pratt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dustin Rojas having to interfere. Nathanial Shipp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merrill Devine kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Rhett Kiser could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Hector Holt made a huge save. Erik Pratt charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Erik Pratt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Virginia Gardens AFC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Erik Pratt hit a great ball. Hector Holt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nathanial Shipp in the 18th minute of play. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by Virginia Gardens AFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dave Moses was slow to take the kick. During this time INTER MIAMI CF's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Virginia Gardens AFC's goalie and right to Rhett Kiser. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Virginia Gardens AFC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 26th minute, INTER MIAMI CF's Nathanial Shipp dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kerry Lynch in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dustin Rojas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dominique Yost received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Dustin Rojas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hector Holt made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Rhett Kiser sent off a good shot on target. During the 47th minute of the match Erik Pratt completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Erik Pratt a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Rhett Kiser received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 49th minute. Hector Holt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kerry Lynch stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Rhett Kiser got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 59 minutes into the match, Virginia Gardens AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Nathanial Shipp came free, but Hector Holt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Bradley Curran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 65 minutes into the game, Rhett Kiser cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Hector Holt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rhett Kiser blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hector Holt having to make a save. Rhett Kiser received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Hector Holt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The INTER MIAMI CF fans' excitement grew in the 81st match minute when INTER MIAMI CF's Nathanial Shipp looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Nathanial Shipp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nathanial Shipp recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 93 minutes into the game, INTER MIAMI CF's Rhett Kiser nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hector Holt made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Bradley Curran's late challenge caught a Virginia Gardens AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bradley Curran helped the player get up and apologised. Bradley Curran hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Rhett Kiser hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. INTER MIAMI CF's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
