Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wallace Tharp to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes, Cypress Gardens FC's Dean Garza shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Denver Baird came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cypress Gardens FC reached it. Denver Baird came out of the goal and Wallace Tharp tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nelson Lusk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Franklin Reeves in the 69th minute. After having played for 71 minutes, Franklin Reeves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Texas Cavaliers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franklin Reeves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 74th minute, Antoine Chamberlain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Scottie Yeager in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Denver Baird saved Texas Cavaliers from getting behind. Texas Cavaliers's Franklin Reeves got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nelson Lusk was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Scott Gutierrez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 79 minute of play. Franklin Reeves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Nelson Lusk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Scott Gutierrez sped through Cypress Gardens FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nelson Lusk.
