To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Burien getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Franklin Ackerman hit a great ball. If Rocco Beam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, August's Joesph Gregg got control of the ball when Brett Fry tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joesph Gregg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vaughn Roche in the 24th minute of play. If Brett Fry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, August's Patrick Bragg got a free kick in the 31st minute. The long shot by German Norwood in the 32nd minute really tested Joesph Gregg's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 33 minutes into the game, Brett Fry cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Joesph Gregg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vaughn Roche scored 2-0 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joesph Gregg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of August booed when Burien was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adalberto Martin didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Dean Whalen, 72 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Vaughn Roche struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Joesph Gregg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Burien. Joesph Gregg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brett Fry, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 96 minutes into the match, Nigel Puckett had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joesph Gregg. August's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nigel Puckett was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2.
