Hal Hemphill took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 14th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Shelby Mercer. Victoria's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Victoria's zone, Oswaldo Easley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shelby Mercer came out of the goal and Oswaldo Easley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roosevelt Denson charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roosevelt Denson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Victoria getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Roosevelt Denson hit a great ball. 20 minutes into the match, Bradly Salinas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ivan Saucedo, 1-0. In the 23rd match minute, Victoria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tad Stephens to maneuver through the defense. Tad Stephens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Ivan Saucedo made a huge save. Ivan Saucedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bradly Salinas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Shelby Mercer showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Tyron Fry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leo Downing made a kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Tyron Fry recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Shelby Mercer. Tyron Fry showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. In the 55th minute Leo Downing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shelby Mercer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Victoria defense, Leo Downing kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Shelby Mercer. The Victoria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Shelby Mercer should have stopped the shot. Shelby Mercer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leo Downing, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bradly Salinas in the 77th minute of play forced Acushnet's goalkeeper Ivan Saucedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 79 minutes into the game, Bradly Salinas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Shelby Mercer, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Terrell Lunsford fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Saucedo having to interfere. Victoria succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Acushnet had controlled the match.
