The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Matthew Zaragoza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Blaine Wills having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Spencer Willoughby got free with Yu Zhen Zhen in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 41st minute, Matthew Zaragoza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Atlético Lanús fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Antonio Rushing kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Valdosta's Randall Scruggs got a free kick in the 46th minute. Marian Rekowski kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Allen Delgado to make the kick off. Yu Zhen Zhen came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Valdosta's Allen Delgado. But to his dismay, Allen Delgado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. Blaine Wills took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dallas Huff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Allen Delgado struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Yu Zhen Zhen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Valdosta. When the match was over Club Atlético Lanús could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Valdosta throughout the match.
