The Mountain West FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Racing de Carolina's defense didn't have a chance, in the 15th minute, when Chris Reyna scored to the left of an out of position Vaughn Shipman, making the score, 2-0. Dalton Klein hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute Darrell Humphrey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vaughn Shipman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Octavio Connors kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Racing de Carolina's goal looked a bit too open when Sammy Nixon came free, but Vaughn Shipman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vaughn Shipman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Octavio Hines made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sammy Nixon in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vaughn Shipman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Mountain West FC booed when Racing de Carolina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalton Klein didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanh Carrington made in the 70th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Mountain West FC's Virgilio Whitney. 74 minutes into the match, Racing de Carolina's goal looked a bit too open when Sammy Nixon came free, but Vaughn Shipman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Racing de Carolina's goal looked a bit too open when Sammy Nixon came free, but Vaughn Shipman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Racing de Carolina's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
