The Racing de Carolina fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when Racing de Carolina's Dalton Klein looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Allen Delgado might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vaughn Shipman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Allen Delgado ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Racing de Carolina's zone, Randall Scruggs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vaughn Shipman came out of the goal and Randall Scruggs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vaughn Shipman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Spencer Willoughby went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Racing de Carolina's Vaughn Shipman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Spencer Willoughby in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Henry McDonald hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Racing de Carolina's Weldon Hamlin tried to score from far away in the 31st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Vaughn Shipman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Spencer Willoughby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Randall Scruggs took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 34th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vaughn Shipman. Racing de Carolina's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Racing de Carolina's Vaughn Shipman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allen Delgado in the 37th minute of play. In the 39thth minute of the game Randall Scruggs who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing de Carolina's Vaughn Shipman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fletcher Berry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Vaughn Shipman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Randall Scruggs in the 45th minute of play forced Racing de Carolina's goalkeeper Vaughn Shipman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Randall Scruggs was the one to do the kick off. Racing de Carolina's Vaughn Shipman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allen Delgado in the 53rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Randall Scruggs managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valdosta's supporters rose to their feet, but Randall Scruggs was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vaughn Shipman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Brandon Gill charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brandon Gill the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Racing de Carolina's Brandon Gill got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 61st minute, Randall Scruggs ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vaughn Shipman was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. After a rather tough play, Valdosta's Allen Delgado got a free kick in the 65th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tuan Sousa during the 71st minute. Vaughn Shipman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Randall Scruggs went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-8 was the resulting score. Dalton Klein recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Racing de Carolina fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Valdosta were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
