Leo Downing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anton Kauffman having to interfere. Acushnet were furious when Oswaldo Easley was red carded, 30 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Acushnet fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! 37 minutes into the match, Acushnet's goal looked a bit too open when Casey Dill came free, but Ivan Saucedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cole Hanson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Casey Dill was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Merle Scott could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Ivan Saucedo made a huge save. Cole Stevens hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Acushnet's Ivan Saucedo got control of the ball when Merle Scott tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Cole Stevens fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Port Vale FC's protests and gave Cole Stevens a yellow card for diving instead. With his leg Ivan Saucedo managed to avoid a goal in the 80thth minute, when Port Vale FC's Merle Scott fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Port Vale FC played a much better game than Acushnet and deserved their victory. The Acushnet players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
