The audience thought a goal was coming when Kyle Whitmore got free with Stewart Blue in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stewart Blue stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Len Springer's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Stewart Blue made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Len Springer in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute, Grosse Pointe Farms's Kyle Whitmore dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. The throw-in from Jordan Sizemore in the 37th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Grosse Pointe Farms's Diego Thorne. Grosse Pointe Farms's Diego Thorne got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Len Springer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stewart Blue having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Len Springer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stewart Blue. Littorio Veneto's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Len Springer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. If Len Springer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Len Springer to make the kick off. Len Springer made a great header on Grosse Pointe Farms's corner, it was just that Littorio Veneto's Stewart Blue managed to reach the ball for a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Len Springer in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stewart Blue saved Littorio Veneto from getting behind.
