After 26 played minutes, Marengo FC's Gustavo Murray shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Klement Olejasz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Marengo FC reached it. In the 28th minute Tobias Battle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klement Olejasz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tobias Battle was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Wiley Crandall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erik Hawthorne charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Erik Hawthorne the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Gustavo Murray fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marengo FC's protests and gave Gustavo Murray a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Galaxy booed when Marengo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Murray didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Galaxy getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Vernon Heath hit a great ball. In the 61st minute Tobias Battle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klement Olejasz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
