In the 7th minute, Felix Virila hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Marengo FC's Salvador Escobedo got a free kick in the 12th minute. Marengo FC's Donovan Dillard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allan Wolf in the 12th minute of play. Rosario Polk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Donovan Dillard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Salvador Escobedo charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Salvador Escobedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 16th minute, Salvador Escobedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, Marengo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Wolf came free, but Donovan Dillard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hector Noel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tobias Battle in the 19th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Winners 1988 FC's goalkeeper Hector Noel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Freddie Annan. Donovan Dillard didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rosario Polk went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 27th minute Rosario Polk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donovan Dillard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute of the match Walter Pereira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Donovan Dillard showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Rosario Polk's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Donovan Dillard was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. 36 minutes into the game, Weston Witt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Winners 1988 FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marengo FC the free kick. Weston Witt hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Geoff Baker, 37 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Rosario Polk struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Donovan Dillard didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Winners 1988 FC. Allan Wolf received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Donovan Dillard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th match minute, Marengo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salvador Escobedo to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rosario Polk stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Marengo FC defense, Rosario Polk kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donovan Dillard. The Marengo FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donovan Dillard should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Marengo FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Tobias Battle hit a great ball. In the 57th minute, Boyd Schafer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Marengo FC's Donovan Dillard got control of the ball when Rosario Polk tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Winners 1988 FC booed when Marengo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Murray didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 60 minutes, Rosario Polk made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Marengo FC's Donovan Dillard tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Hector Noel came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Marengo FC's Romeo Boyer. But to his dismay, Romeo Boyer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Rosario Polk received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Donovan Dillard came out and tried to block the shot, but Rosario Polk slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 73rd minute. 76 minutes into the game, Winners 1988 FC's Rosario Polk nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Donovan Dillard made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. In the 79th match minute, Marengo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geoff Baker to maneuver through the defense. Rosario Polk in the 82ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Donovan Dillard, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Freddie Annan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hector Noel having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Wolf in the 89th minute of play forced Marengo FC's goalkeeper Donovan Dillard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Marengo FC's Donovan Dillard got control of the ball when Rosario Polk tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Marengo FC's goalkeeper Donovan Dillard, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Winners 1988 FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Marengo FC.
