Lewes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lenny Aranda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Silas Hatch recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lenny Aranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freddy Roy having to interfere. In the 21st match minute, Gates was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sherwood Boswell to maneuver through the defense. Freddy Roy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lenny Aranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 26 minutes into the match, Lewes's goal looked a bit too open when Douglas DeJesus came free, but Tanner Fish reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Lewes getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Bryant Aaron hit a great ball. Ramiro Orozco hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute Lenny Aranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Freddy Roy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Lewes's Lenny Aranda in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gates's goalie prevented a goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Douglas DeJesus made a kick off. Lenny Aranda had several of the Gates's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 55 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Freddy Roy as he didn't even see the shot coming. A sloppy throw-in by Eldon Boudreaux in the 65th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Lewes's Silas Hatch. A collision led to Gates getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Paolo Atarratze hit a great ball. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gates's goalkeeper Freddy Roy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 68th match minute, Lewes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geoffrey Sanderson to maneuver through the defense. Gates's Freddy Roy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silas Hatch in the 71st minute of play. Douglas DeJesus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lenny Aranda blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Freddy Roy having to make a save. After 80 minutes, Paolo Atarratze mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gates and the Lewes players grew even worse after the yellow card. A very good chance. Douglas DeJesus charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Lewes's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
