Diego Altman's late challenge caught a RiverCity Gamblers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ismael Kline tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ignacio Rowe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Guadalquivir's Bill Hoyt got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Harry McGill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Vernon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 37 minutes into the match, Gerald McRae had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Harry McGill. Guadalquivir's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gerald McRae was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. With a little luck, Guadalquivir's Harry McGill got control of the ball when Casey Michel tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Gerald McRae took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Harry McGill to make any attempt to save it. In the 47th minute, Ignacio Rowe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ignacio Rowe to strike the kick off in the second half.
