Alex Pearson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benedict Cottrell, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After a rather tough play, Brainerd FC's Jackson McGrath got a free kick in the 13th minute. Toby Cavazos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 18 minutes into the match, Brainerd FC's goal looked a bit too open when Toby Cavazos came free, but Alex Pearson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, Toby Cavazos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alex Pearson. Brainerd FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Toby Cavazos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnoldo Stahl in the 30th minute of play forced Los Angeles FC's goalkeeper Wallace McConnell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alex Pearson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toby Cavazos in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Antony Haas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Los Angeles FC's Dan Arellano got a free kick in the 40th minute. Arnoldo Stahl kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arnoldo Stahl to make the kick off. Alex Pearson made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Toby Cavazos sent off a good shot on target. If Benedict Cottrell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Toby Cavazos in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alex Pearson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Arnoldo Stahl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The attack was good, but when Shawn Diamond in the 69th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Shawn Diamond's late challenge caught a Los Angeles FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Shawn Diamond helped the player get up and apologised. In the 75th minute, Shawn Diamond hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. During the 78th minute of the match Jackson McGrath completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Jackson McGrath a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Los Angeles FC booed when Brainerd FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jackson McGrath didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benedict Cottrell, 79 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to Los Angeles FC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Dan Arellano hit a great ball. Toby Cavazos hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Arnoldo Stahl sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Antony Haas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brainerd FC's goalkeeper Alex Pearson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
