The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Avery Cao Xiao kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. In the 10th minute, Rickie Love got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to SCU Torreense getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Richie Carver hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Rickie Love took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Claudio Engel to make any attempt to save it. Ediberto Messias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flint Corley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Richie Carver was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 34 minutes had been played. The supporters of Holmes Beach booed when SCU Torreense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richie Carver didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Holmes Beach's Rickie Love in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SCU Torreense's goalie prevented a goal. With his leg Claudio Engel managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when Holmes Beach's Rickie Love fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Flint Corley made the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Holmes Beach's goalkeeper Ediberto Messias had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Flint Corley. In the 60th match minute, Holmes Beach was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bill Cullen to maneuver through the defense. Rico Grimes made in the 61st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Miguel Wray however managed to control. SCU Torreense's Claudio Engel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Billy Reeves in the 63rd minute of play. The referee showed Osvaldo Burrell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 72nd match minute, SCU Torreense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldo Burrell to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Rickie Love's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Claudio Engel was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. When Rickie Love came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Holmes Beach fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rickie Love couldn't finish the play. After 89 minutes, Stacy Gold mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Holmes Beach and the SCU Torreense players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 89 played minutes Holmes Beach got a freekick which was hit by Stacy Gold. SCU Torreense's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
