Mitch Ott didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newark Athletic Club. Mitch Ott came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Newark Athletic Club's Bob Carey. But to his dismay, Bob Carey quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. A collision led to Boca Juniors LA getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Marlon Dickens hit a great ball. In the 21st minute, Emanuel MacKenzie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Newark Athletic Club's Gerardo Valentine got a free kick in the 22nd minute. If Lyle Bonds had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hugo Todd made an important save on a dangerous shot by Josiah Barker in the 33rd minute. Hugo Todd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blair Flynn, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute Blair Flynn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Todd saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Josiah Barker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Todd having to interfere. A collision led to Boca Juniors LA getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Blair Flynn hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Blair Flynn made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match, Bob Carey tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mitch Ott saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 53rd minute Josiah Barker suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. In the 54th minute, Sidney Schmidt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hugo Todd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lyle Bonds, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Boca Juniors LA's Mitch Ott played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bob Carey in the 74th minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Lucien Moss had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mitch Ott. Boca Juniors LA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lucien Moss was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After some careless play in the Newark Athletic Club defense, Lyle Bonds kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hugo Todd. The Newark Athletic Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hugo Todd should have stopped the shot. Ned Reed hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Blair Flynn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hugo Todd read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Joe Beal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Boca Juniors LA's Mitch Ott got control of the ball when Ian Cook tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 90th minute, Blair Flynn ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hugo Todd was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. In the 97th minute, Blair Flynn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. There was no doubt that Boca Juniors LA were the better team. Boca Juniors LA's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
