In the 12th minute, Ricardo Sharp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Woodrow Patrick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Devin Yoshioka in the 15th minute of the match. After 19 minutes, Jaime Mathews mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Energy FC and the South Sioux City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Energy FC's Jaime Mathews got a free kick in the 19th minute. Energy FC:s Woodrow Patrick showed great skill when he stopped Erik Moses:s penalty. South Sioux City were furious when Arnold Cope was red carded, 24 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 23 minutes into the game, one of South Sioux City:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After 30 minutes South Sioux City's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sanford Carroll who took care of the corner kick. Gregory Short made a great header on Energy FC's corner, it was just that South Sioux City's Rick Madison managed to reach the ball for a save. Rick Madison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gregory Short in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 39th match minute, Energy FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stanley Jean to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, South Sioux City's Rick Madison got control of the ball when David McKinnon tried to sneak it across the goal line. If David McKinnon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rick Madison showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregory Short, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Energy FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
