Donald Kennedy made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Pingyu FC's goalkeeper Robin Henley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jack Cabourne. Jack Costello could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Robin Henley made a huge save. Curt Bergstrom scored 0-2 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Donald Kennedy, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Curt Bergstrom struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Donald Kennedy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pingyu FC. Robin Henley made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jack Costello in the 25th minute. Robin Henley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian Pennington, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Jack Costello took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Robin Henley. Robin Henley dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Robin Henley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lloyd Arredondo in the 32nd minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, Jack Costello recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Robin Henley. Jack Costello showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. After 38 minutes of play, Pingyu FC's Elijah Spivey made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Donald Kennedy was left in no man's land by his defense there! Curt Bergstrom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute Curt Bergstrom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald Kennedy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elijah Spivey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 47 minutes, Homer Benjamin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hillsborough and the Pingyu FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Hillsborough getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Homer Benjamin hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elijah Spivey made a kick off. With a little luck, Hillsborough's Donald Kennedy got control of the ball when Curt Bergstrom tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darnell Bowling got free with Donald Kennedy in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hillsborough's Jack Costello got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 65 minutes of play, Hillsborough's Sebastian Pennington made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Robin Henley was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Jack Costello in the 68th minute of play forced Pingyu FC's goalkeeper Robin Henley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robin Henley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Pennington in the 70th minute of play. Pingyu FC's Robin Henley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Costello in the 71st minute of play. Robin Henley didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sebastian Pennington went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-4 was the resulting score. Hillsborough's defense didn't have a chance, in the 83rd minute, when Curt Bergstrom scored to the left of an out of position Donald Kennedy, making the score, 4-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Pennington in the 92nd minute of play forced Pingyu FC's goalkeeper Robin Henley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Pingyu FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
