Jack Costello might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sam McIntyre. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jack Costello ran back to his position shaking his head. Hillsborough's Sebastian Pennington managed to work through New York Red Bulls FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Sebastian Pennington dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Jack Costello took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sam McIntyre. Sam McIntyre dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 38 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Costello came free, but Sam McIntyre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gilson do Vale stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jack Costello got free with Sam McIntyre in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hillsborough's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
