The referee ignored Pingyu FC's protests and gave Elijah Spivey a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of New York Red Bulls FC booed when Pingyu FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elijah Spivey didn't get a good kick on the ball. New York Red Bulls FC's Sam McIntyre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elijah Spivey in the 10th minute of play. After having played for 12 minutes, Curt Bergstrom managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A very good chance. 16 minutes into the match, Pingyu FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cícero Amaral came free, but Robin Henley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Curt Bergstrom came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Pingyu FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Curt Bergstrom couldn't finish the play. Elijah Spivey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Sam McIntyre tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilson do Vale in the 31st minute of play forced Pingyu FC's goalkeeper Robin Henley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. New York Red Bulls FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 33rd minute, when Elijah Spivey scored to the left of an out of position Sam McIntyre, making the score, 1-0. Elijah Spivey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sam McIntyre having to interfere. Curt Bergstrom recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elijah Spivey to make the kick off. Tommy Watson kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. After 61 played minutes Pingyu FC got a freekick which was hit by Elijah Spivey. Curt Bergstrom might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sam McIntyre. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Curt Bergstrom ran back to his position shaking his head. Robin Henley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cícero Amaral in the 69th minute of play. After 86 played minutes New York Red Bulls FC got a freekick which was hit by Tommy Watson. Pingyu FC's Curt Bergstrom got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sam McIntyre took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Curt Bergstrom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robin Henley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cícero Amaral in the 94th minute of the match. Winford Messer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
