Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Oren Walsh started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 2 played minutes Hillsborough got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Pennington. Hillsborough's Donald Kennedy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Curt McLain in the 5th minute of play. When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Curt McLain sped through Hillsborough's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Donald Kennedy. In the 10th minute, Curt McLain ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Donald Kennedy was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Accokeek AFC's Oren Walsh got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Donald Kennedy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curt McLain, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Roscoe Hargrove notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Hillsborough's Donald Kennedy. Donald Kennedy was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oren Walsh in the 23rd minute of play forced Hillsborough's goalkeeper Donald Kennedy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Hillsborough defense, Roscoe Hargrove kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donald Kennedy. The Hillsborough fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donald Kennedy should have stopped the shot. 35 minutes into the match, Hillsborough's goal looked a bit too open when Oren Walsh came free, but Donald Kennedy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Donald Kennedy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curt McLain in the 36th minute of play. Rusty Walton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Donald Kennedy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Sherwood Walsh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jack Cabourne, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Donald Kennedy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Curt McLain, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Accokeek AFC booed when Hillsborough was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Freddy McNally didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute of the match Dwight Boone sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Donald Kennedy skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rusty Walton in the 45th minute of play forced Hillsborough's goalkeeper Donald Kennedy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Accokeek AFC's Roscoe Hargrove got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sebastian Pennington to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Curt McLain recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Donald Kennedy. Curt McLain showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Accokeek AFC's Sherwood Walsh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Costello in the 59th minute of play. Homer Benjamin hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 62 minutes into the game, Jack Cabourne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hillsborough's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Accokeek AFC the free kick. Donald Kennedy was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Dwight Boone. In the 64th minute, Jack Cabourne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jack Costello received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Sherwood Walsh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 68 minutes, Oren Walsh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Accokeek AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oren Walsh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Donald Kennedy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curt McLain, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Donald Kennedy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Oren Walsh in the 71st minute. Donald Kennedy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curt McLain in the 72nd minute of play. After 72 played minutes Hillsborough got a freekick which was hit by Jack Cabourne. Rusty Walton hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Donald Kennedy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roscoe Hargrove in the 79th minute of play. Rusty Walton kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the match, Jack Costello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sherwood Walsh. Accokeek AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jack Costello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. After 85 played minutes Hillsborough got a freekick which was hit by Homer Benjamin. 88 minutes into the game, Terrence Walters was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hillsborough's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Accokeek AFC the free kick. Terrence Walters hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Dwight Boone struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Donald Kennedy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Accokeek AFC. 96 minutes into the match, Accokeek AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Costello came free, but Sherwood Walsh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Accokeek AFC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
