The supporters of shenhua booed when Stow was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Uster didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rashad Starks in the 18th minute of play forced Stow's goalkeeper Randell Boyce to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the match, shenhua's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Robison came free, but Wilford Mott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jordan Graham might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Randell Boyce. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jordan Graham ran back to his position shaking his head. 31 minutes into the match, shenhua's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Robison came free, but Wilford Mott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Uster got his second yellow card in the match during the 32nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 33 played minutes Stow got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Uster. shenhua's Wilford Mott proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save shenhua from getting a goal against them. In the 41st minute, Brady Calhoun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Freddie Priest came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the shenhua fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Freddie Priest couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Rashad Starks made the kick off in the second half. Wilford Mott didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guillermo Davidson went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Guillermo Davidson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilford Mott having to interfere. After some careless play in the shenhua defense, Guillermo Davidson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilford Mott. The shenhua fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilford Mott should have stopped the shot. In the 68th minute Guillermo Davidson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilford Mott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rashad Starks in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Randell Boyce saved Stow from getting behind. Wilford Mott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillermo Davidson, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. If Guillermo Davidson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Tony Robison came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Stow fans jumped to their feet. Stow's Guillermo Davidson got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Tony Robison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute Guillermo Davidson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilford Mott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stow's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
