In the 31st minute, Victor Duncan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Mitchell Hopson in the 31st minute really tested Saul Coulter's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of Castle Hills FC booed when MONTERREY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clay Pringle didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 36 minutes of play, MONTERREY's Köksal Erek made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Saul Coulter was left in no man's land by his defense there! Castle Hills FC's Luther Kaplan got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Brede Røv showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luther Kaplan, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After 47 played minutes Castle Hills FC got a freekick which was hit by Wilfred Potts. Köksal Erek's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 48thth minute, Saul Coulter skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Köksal Erek blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Saul Coulter having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Castle Hills FC's Luther Kaplan got a free kick in the 56th minute. If Duncan Sloan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. MONTERREY's Brede Røv proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save MONTERREY from getting a goal against them. Castle Hills FC's Luther Kaplan got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 81 played minutes Castle Hills FC got a freekick which was hit by Luther Kaplan. Saul Coulter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Köksal Erek's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. Luther Kaplan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Brede Røv tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ignacy Kornecki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saul Coulter having to interfere. Köksal Erek might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Saul Coulter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Köksal Erek ran back to his position shaking his head. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
