Fair Haven
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Otto Cagle took the kick off in the first half of the match. Dirk Miller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thad Avery took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chuck Pendleton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fair Haven's Manuel Morse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ed Chung in the 5th minute of play. Manuel Morse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Austin Dickens in the 7th minute of play. 13 minutes into the game, Chuck Pendleton recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Thad Avery. Chuck Pendleton showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Sol Rushing kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. After having played for 20 minutes, Otto Cagle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Anson AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Otto Cagle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fair Haven's Manuel Morse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Otto Cagle in the 22nd minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Austin Dickens had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manuel Morse. Fair Haven's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Austin Dickens was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Manuel Morse came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Anson AFC's Austin Dickens. But to his dismay, Austin Dickens quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. When Eddy Gabriel came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Fair Haven fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eddy Gabriel couldn't finish the play. 34 minutes into the match, Anson AFC's goalkeeper Thad Avery had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chuck Pendleton. With a little luck, Anson AFC's Thad Avery got control of the ball when Chuck Pendleton tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 38th minute, Darnell Hoover hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With 44 minutes on the clock, Ahmed Goins commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 44 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Fair Haven! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Johnnie Joyce made a kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Fair Haven was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustavo Cerna to maneuver through the defense. Austin Dickens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Manuel Morse made a huge save. When Otto Cagle came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Anson AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Otto Cagle couldn't finish the play. 66 minutes into the game, Enoch Norwood was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Anson AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fair Haven the free kick. Enoch Norwood hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. If Hal Sparks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 71 minutes, Marcellus Paris managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Anson AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcellus Paris was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 74 minutes, Eddy Gabriel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fair Haven and the Anson AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Fair Haven's Eddy Gabriel got a free kick in the 74th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hal Sparks in the 80th minute of play forced Anson AFC's goalkeeper Thad Avery to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johnnie Joyce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Thad Avery tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hal Sparks struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Thad Avery didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fair Haven. 90 minutes into the match, Fair Haven's goal looked a bit too open when Otto Cagle came free, but Manuel Morse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 96thth minute of the game Eddy Gabriel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Anson AFC's Thad Avery was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Anson AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
