The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Noel Grant made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Virgil Thomson sent off a good shot on target. Irmo's Noel Grant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Irmo from getting a goal against them. Noel Grant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tuan LeBlanc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ace Dougherty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes into the match, Virgil Thomson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Noel Grant. Irmo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Virgil Thomson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Brendan Payne hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kasey Bernier in the 36th minute of play forced Irmo's goalkeeper Noel Grant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Ace Dougherty notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Dyer FC's Elvis Seymour. Elvis Seymour was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Clinton Romano lost his temper 42 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 43rd minute, Clinton Romano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elvis Seymour took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ace Dougherty, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Irmo's Noel Grant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Irmo from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Virgil Thomson was the one to do the kick off. Ace Dougherty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Dyer FC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Colby Gold hit a great ball. In the 60th minute of the match Ace Dougherty shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elvis Seymour showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Ace Dougherty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Dyer FC's Kasey Bernier got a free kick in the 69th minute. Noel Grant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgil Thomson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 75 minutes into the match, Kasey Bernier notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Irmo's Noel Grant. Noel Grant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Elvis Seymour was a little too slow when Ace Dougherty got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 81st minute. The score was now 2-4. 86 minutes into the match, Dyer FC's Gerard Milton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Noel Grant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 94 minutes, Scottie Shearer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dyer FC and the Irmo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Scottie Shearer kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The Irmo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Irmo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
