The goalkeeper, Bernie Gibson, was totally fooled by Key West FC's Monroe Braun, who 14 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. With a little luck, Oviedo's Bernie Gibson got control of the ball when Blaine Rudd tried to sneak it across the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Calvin Yarbrough notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Oviedo's Bernie Gibson. Bernie Gibson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Bernie Gibson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monroe Braun in the 27th minute of play. Calvin Yarbrough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernie Gibson having to interfere. In the 34th minute, Blaine Rudd made a precise shot to the right of Bernie Gibson. Oviedo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. 38 minutes into the match, Oviedo's Barry Read sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Claudinei Montenegro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Calvin Yarbrough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Otto Denne charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Blaine Rudd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Bernie Gibson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Calvin Yarbrough struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Bernie Gibson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Key West FC. Otto Denne kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Blaine Rudd notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Oviedo's Bernie Gibson. Bernie Gibson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. It was a well-played corner which Leif Milligan managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. When the match clock showed 85 minutes, the score became 9-0 when Calvin Yarbrough sped through Oviedo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bernie Gibson. 93 minutes into the match, Key West FC's Calvin Yarbrough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bernie Gibson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Key West FC's Claudinei Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leif Milligan in the 94th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Calvin Yarbrough in the 97th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bernie Gibson prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
