Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ignacio Beasley made the kick off and thus started the match. Oviedo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Trinidad James in the 7th minute. A nice corner shot did that Trinidad James got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Carlos Sorenson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Yong Babcock recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bernie Gibson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yong Babcock's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. The supporters of New Bern FC booed when Oviedo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Barry Read didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute Yong Babcock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernie Gibson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Oviedo's goalkeeper Bernie Gibson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Oviedo's Bernie Gibson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yong Babcock in the 24th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Yong Babcock managed to get in a good position for a shot. New Bern FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Yong Babcock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernie Gibson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Otto Denne fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Oviedo's protests and gave Otto Denne a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd minute, Matthew Tolbert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 35 minutes of play, New Bern FC's Yong Babcock made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bernie Gibson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Oviedo's Ignacio Beasley got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oviedo's Bernie Gibson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yong Babcock in the 44th minute of play. In the 46th minute, Miles Connell made a precise shot to the right of Bernie Gibson. Oviedo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After the first half New Bern FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Yong Babcock made a kick off. Ali Leonard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Bernie Gibson made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Yong Babcock managed to get in a good position for a shot. New Bern FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Yong Babcock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernie Gibson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 64 minutes into the match, New Bern FC's goal looked a bit too open when Barry Read came free, but Carlos Sorenson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carlos Sorenson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barry Read, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. 68 minutes into the match, New Bern FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ignacio Beasley came free, but Carlos Sorenson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Oviedo's Bernie Gibson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yong Babcock in the 70th minute of play. Bernie Gibson was a little too slow when Yong Babcock got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 71st minute. The score was now 0-4. With his leg Bernie Gibson managed to avoid a goal in the 75thth minute, when New Bern FC's Yong Babcock fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Yong Babcock had several of the Oviedo's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 76 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-5 score and a disappointed Bernie Gibson as he didn't even see the shot coming. 80 minutes into the game, New Bern FC's Yong Babcock nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bernie Gibson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Miles Connell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 84th match minute, Oviedo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quinton Willard to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to New Bern FC getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Ari Traylor hit a great ball. In the 88th match minute, Oviedo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quinton Willard to maneuver through the defense. Ari Traylor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When New Bern FC's Yong Babcock in the 95th minute got a chance for a shot 95th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Oviedo's goalie prevented a goal. New Bern FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
