Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Damon Lehman started the match with the kick off. Aaron Vogt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mickey Harrell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Jacob Tackett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Key West FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacob Tackett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aaron Vogt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Johnson Lane getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Marquis Bynum hit a great ball. Aaron Vogt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anthony Gifford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Johnson Lane's Aaron Vogt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blaine Rudd in the 13th minute of play. Aaron Vogt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anthony Gifford went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Calvin Yarbrough in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aaron Vogt saved Johnson Lane from getting behind. Mickey Harrell took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aaron Vogt. Aaron Vogt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Dante Reeder's late challenge caught a Key West FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dante Reeder helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Johnson Lane getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Dante Reeder hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Calvin Yarbrough in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aaron Vogt saved Johnson Lane from getting behind. When Blaine Rudd came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Key West FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Blaine Rudd couldn't finish the play. Monroe Braun kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. After having played for 44 minutes, Damon Lehman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Johnson Lane's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damon Lehman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Calvin Yarbrough to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Johnson Lane's zone, Reuben Sims stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aaron Vogt came out of the goal and Reuben Sims tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aaron Vogt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Blaine Rudd in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calvin Yarbrough in the 62nd minute of play forced Johnson Lane's goalkeeper Aaron Vogt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Blaine Rudd recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Calvin Yarbrough came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Key West FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Calvin Yarbrough couldn't finish the play. In the 68thth minute of the game Calvin Yarbrough who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Johnson Lane's Aaron Vogt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 73 minutes, Calvin Yarbrough mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Key West FC and the Johnson Lane players grew even worse after the yellow card. Calvin Yarbrough hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Johnson Lane's Marquis Bynum got a free kick in the 76th minute. Key West FC's Jasper Landrum got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute Calvin Yarbrough shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Vogt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aaron Vogt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Calvin Yarbrough, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Johnson Lane's goalkeeper Aaron Vogt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Johnson Lane's Aaron Vogt got control of the ball when Blaine Rudd tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Calvin Yarbrough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Calvin Yarbrough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aaron Vogt having to interfere. Taylor Rivas hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. In the 92nd minute, Blaine Rudd got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match was over Key West FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Johnson Lane throughout the match.
