In the 45th play minute Lawrence Conley came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Leland Akins. 3-2. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-2. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gerald Peoples made a kick off. Oviedo's Bernie Gibson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Oviedo from getting a goal against them. Gladstone's Leland Akins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ignacio Beasley in the 53rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mason Ambriz got free with Bernie Gibson in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Barry Read took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leland Akins. Leland Akins dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. In the 66th match minute, Oviedo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Otto Denne to maneuver through the defense. In the 68th minute Ignacio Beasley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leland Akins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stacey Lyles hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Leland Akins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ignacio Beasley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Ignacio Beasley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gerald Peoples might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bernie Gibson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerald Peoples ran back to his position shaking his head. Leland Akins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacio Beasley, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Oviedo's Bernie Gibson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Oviedo from getting a goal against them. Jesse Nava could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Bernie Gibson made a huge save. Jesse Nava received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Bernie Gibson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oviedo's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
