In the 17th minute, Terrell Cates ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carlos Sorenson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Werner Clay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Odell Gagne having to interfere. Carlos Sorenson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Terrell Cates in the 23rd minute of play. Craig Cornell kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Odell Gagne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Werner Clay in the 35th minute of play. The supporters of New Bern FC booed when Big Flats Airport AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Brandt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Werner Clay in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. New Bern FC's Miles Connell got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Werner Clay who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 46thth minute tested the skills of Odell Gagne when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Terrell Cates received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Carlos Sorenson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, New Bern FC's goal looked a bit too open when Terrell Cates came free, but Carlos Sorenson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
