Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lucien Yeats in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ivan Oberle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 20 minutes into the match, Mendenhall FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lucien Yeats came free, but Ivan Oberle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bret Nickerson's late challenge caught a Houston Fire F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 45 played minutes, Houston Fire F.C.'s Louis Escobedo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ivan Oberle came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Houston Fire F.C. reached it. Lucien Yeats scored 0-5 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ivan Oberle, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.
