In the 20th minute of the match Ferdinand Beard sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dursun Ali Arısal skillfully saved the ball. Juan Charro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 25 played minutes Montesa de Lugo got a freekick which was hit by Tyrell Cerna. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Toby Nugent during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Chivas USA booed when Montesa de Lugo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toby Nugent didn't get a good kick on the ball. Graig Knight recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 38 minutes into the match, Chivas USA's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Quinn came free, but Dursun Ali Arısal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Montesa de Lugo's Dane Fraser played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Graig Knight in the 46th minute of play. Alfredo Quinn hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Graig Knight to strike the kick off in the second half. After 58th play minutes Igor Skwira shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Dane Fraser and just under the crossbar into goal. Chivas USA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Björn-Torben Buß in the 63rd minute. Björn-Torben Buß made a great header on Chivas USA's corner, it was just that Montesa de Lugo's Dane Fraser managed to reach the ball for a save. Phillip Benitez kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Pedro De Gracia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dane Fraser read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Antonio Morales charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antonio Morales the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Igor Skwira hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Chivas USA fans cheered their team off the field, for while Montesa de Lugo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
