With an all-out effort, Chivas USA's Nick Ervin threw himself towards the right post 6 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Teo Leguizamón, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 10 minutes into the match, Chivas USA's goal looked a bit too open when Woodrow Carrier came free, but Dursun Ali Arısal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Skwira in the 13th minute of play forced Soldotna's goalkeeper Nick Ervin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute, Dominique White hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nick Ervin made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Igor Skwira sent off a good shot on target. Igor Skwiras short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Nick Ervin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Nick Ervin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Teo Leguizamón went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. If Igor Skwira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Igor Skwira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nick Ervin having to interfere. Chivas USA's Dursun Ali Arısal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darin McAlpin in the 37th minute of play. If Dominique White had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Teo Leguizamón came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Chivas USA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teo Leguizamón couldn't finish the play. Wiley Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dursun Ali Arısal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darin McAlpin in the 48th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Darin McAlpin made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Chivas USA's Wiley Miranda got a free kick in the 55th minute. In the 56th minute of the match Johnny Hickman shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dursun Ali Arısal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Igor Skwira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Nick Ervin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Soldotna's Nick Ervin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Skwira in the 62nd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Soldotna's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro De Gracia came free, but Nick Ervin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Teo Leguizamón notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Soldotna's Nick Ervin. Nick Ervin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 69 minutes, Teo Leguizamón made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Soldotna's Nick Ervin tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Teo Leguizamón fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nick Ervin having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Chivas USA fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 73rd minute. Penalty! If Pedro De Gracia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th match minute, Soldotna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilford Nunez to maneuver through the defense. 83 minutes into the game, Chivas USA's Teo Leguizamón nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nick Ervin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. In the 87th minute, Tyrone Tyson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute Igor Skwira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nick Ervin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90thth minute of the game Teo Leguizamón who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Soldotna's Nick Ervin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Teo Leguizamón managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chivas USA's supporters rose to their feet, but Teo Leguizamón was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nick Ervin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Chivas USA booed when Soldotna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilford Nunez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chivas USA walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
