Black Sails FC's Eric Fisher managed to work through Jacksonville FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Eric Fisher dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Craig Velazquez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Federico Healy in the 20th minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Zé Roberto Costa made a precise shot to the right of Craig Velazquez. Black Sails FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Jacksonville FC's Nikolas Papadamous proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Jacksonville FC from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Jimmy Barnard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Sails FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jimmy Barnard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nikolas Papadamous breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eric Fisher received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nikolas Papadamous came out and tried to block the shot, but Eric Fisher slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 33rd minute. Black Sails FC's Craig Velazquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Federico Healy in the 37th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Federico Healy had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Craig Velazquez. Black Sails FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Federico Healy was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After some careless play in the Jacksonville FC defense, Donnie Ragland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nikolas Papadamous. The Jacksonville FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nikolas Papadamous should have stopped the shot. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Taylor Wiley was the one to do the kick off. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Jacksonville FC to win.
